Executive Leadership and Generational Concrete Legacy
Benjamin J. Bohannan — Chief Executive Officer
Constructure Inc., California
Benjamin J. Bohannan serves as Chief Executive Officer of Constructure Inc. and represents the fifth generation of continuous family leadership in the concrete construction industry, a legacy originating in California during the early twentieth century. This multigenerational foundation reflects nearly a century of direct involvement in paving, ready-mix concrete supply, structural concrete construction, reinforcement systems, and full-service concrete design-build delivery across the Southern California market.
The Bohannan family’s construction legacy began in the 1930s, when Thomas Bohannan founded Bohannan Paving, initially focused on paving and infrastructure work. As regional development accelerated, the business quickly expanded into specialized concrete supply and construction services to meet the growing structural demands of California’s evolving built environment. In 1949, Bohannan Paving was formally established with the California Secretary of State, marking a significant milestone in the professionalization and long-term continuity of the family enterprise.
During the 1950s, the second generation—Therin, Olef, and Iris Bohannan—advanced the company’s capabilities into ready-mix concrete production and delivery, laying the operational and technical groundwork for modern structural concrete construction. Their vision culminated in the 1963 establishment of TOBI Transport, a trucking and logistics operation that supported ownership and operation of five of the fifteen major ready-mix concrete plants in the greater Los Angeles region, significantly expanding the family’s presence within the Southern California concrete market.
In 1964, Glenn Bohannan, a third-generation contractor, co-founded Bohannan Bros, further strengthening the family’s reputation for quality ready-mix supply and structural concrete expertise. The firm became widely recognized for dependable concrete materials and construction performance across projects of varying scale and complexity. This reputation was exemplified in 1969, when Glenn Bohannan supplied concrete for the Federal Building at 11000 Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles, designed by Charles Luckman Associates as the Los Angeles headquarters for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)—a landmark project demonstrating the family’s technical capability and industry standing.
Throughout the following decades, the business expanded into reinforcing steel and post-tension concrete systems, broadening its role from material supply into structural performance and engineered construction delivery. In 1975, Bryan Bohannan, representing the fourth generation, entered the industry through ready-mix supply and structural concrete work, collaborating closely with Glenn Bohannan to advance the family’s capabilities in rebar installation, post-tension reinforcement, and complex concrete building structures. Their continued emphasis on innovation, durability, and service quality reinforced the Bohannan name as a trusted contributor to Southern California construction.
In 1999, Bohannan Bros executed a strategic divestiture of its concrete plant operations to a major international supplier affiliated with Mitsubishi, marking a transition from vertically integrated material production toward higher-value construction and structural delivery services.
Building on this legacy, Benjamin J. Bohannan, together with his brother and Bryan Bohannan, established a full-service concrete design-build enterprise in 2002, expanding the family’s scope into multi-family residential, mixed-use, commercial, office, podium, parking structure, and mid- to high-rise construction across the private sector, as well as select public works projects. Their integrated expertise in structural concrete, reinforcing steel, and post-tension systems positioned the organization to deliver comprehensive concrete construction solutions emphasizing durability, structural integrity, and disciplined execution.
Today, as CEO of Constructure Inc., Benjamin J. Bohannan continues this five-generation tradition of concrete construction leadership, combining historical craftsmanship with modern engineering methods, digital project controls, and rigorous quality and safety management. Under his leadership, Constructure delivers high-performance structural concrete systems designed to meet stringent regulatory requirements, protect lender and investor interests, and provide long-term asset resilience throughout California’s demanding construction environment.
